A while ago, I read a book called, Miracle Morning, by Hal Elrod. I had heard about this book in a Facebook group and found myself reading a bunch of comments in this group about this amazing book. So many were recommending it so I had to give it a try.
And here’s what I found out…if you want to completely change your life for the better, you NEED to read this book. I’m not kidding.
It has completely changed my outlook towards my mornings.
GET YOUR LIFE IN CONTROL!
Ever feel like you're spinning out of control? Are you longing for a calmer life? My Happy Life Starter Guide will give you the 3 steps to beat overwhelm so YOU can start living a happier life. Get it now while it’s free!
You see, not that long ago, I was a classic night owl. I would typically stay up until 11:00 or midnight, sometimes even later. And then getting up in the morning was absolute torture if I had to get out of bed before 7 AM. And most mornings I had to get up before 7, especially on school mornings when my oldest son needed to be up by 6:00.
But through it all, I was never satisfied with myself. I loved staying up late in the moment but hated myself in the morning for doing it. Can you relate to that?
Yet, this went on for years. And then I read this book. Now I’m getting up earlier than I ever thought possible at 5 AM and loving it. Here’s how I’m able to do this.

The 6 Life Savers
What Hal recommends is so inspiring.
He came up with the 6 Life Savers. He figured out that it’s in these 6 practices that we can see amazing results for our lives. And SAVERS stands for something.
S = Silence
A = Affirmations
V = Visualization
E = Exercise
R = Reading
S = Scribing
Now, let’s talk about each of these and their benefits.
.
Silence
Silence is essentially meditating. Just allowing yourself to be silent. Have you ever tried meditating? I hadn’t tried it before reading this book but now I can’t get enough of it. It’s incredibly soothing and comforting. But don’t get me wrong, I struggled with this for a while after I started. I had a very hard time quieting my brain. But I learned after practicing this over and over, it gets easier to let go.
I believe meditation is beneficial for everyone. It helps relieve stress, anxiety, and depression. Now, unless you’re completely blissful with life (which you’re probably meditating if you are), you need to try meditation and see for yourself how it can change your life.
Affirmations
I’ve written about affirmations on my site before so, as you can see, I am a big supporter of them. Affirmations are extremely powerful when done right. And how you do them right is to pick some affirmations that you sort of believe are true about yourself. Don’t pick ones that make you laugh every time you read them. They won’t help you. But if reading it strikes up emotion within you, then you’re on to something.
As you’re telling yourself these affirmations, start acting like them. For example, if you tell yourself you’re going to lose 30 lbs., don’t eat chips and drink soda all day long. Instead, tell yourself this throughout the day and go for walks and make healthier choices with food.
Repeat your affirmations over and over EVERY DAY. Over time, you’ll start believing in them and they will change your life.
Visualization
With visualization, you can do this with either a vision board or you can visualize this in your mind. Visualization is picturing somewhere you want to be or someone you want to become and you visualize it happening now. For example, if you picture yourself with a lot of money, visualize that picture in your mind or on a vision board and try to bring that to the present.
Visualize how you’d feel, who would be around you, and what you’d be doing. Bring that all to the present time and make it feel real. Again this could all be in your mind or you could map this out on a vision board what it looks like and feels like to you.
Over time, you’ll start acting like how you visualized it being. And you’ll start believing it’s true about you. It will then be easier to go after what you’ve visualized.
Exercise
Exercising is so important for our bodies and our minds. Yet so many of us don’t make the time for it. By making a point to focus on this during the six life savers, you’ll make time for it. And it could be for 5 or 10 minutes. You could do a high-intensity workout, yoga, go for a brisk walk or run, or do some jumping jacks. Just get your heart rate up and reap the benefits of your workout all day long.
Reading
So many of us say we don’t have the time to read. We think we’re just too busy to make time for it. But what if you took 10 – 15 minutes in the morning to read a book you’ve been putting off. It’s a short amount of time and you’re getting some reading in every day.
I love reading self-help books and I love taking 15 minutes in my morning routine to do this. Otherwise, I too get busy and don’t make reading a priority. But intentionally reading about 15 minutes in the morning has me reading about a book or two per month.
.
Scribing
Scribing essentially means writing. Taking some time every morning to write. You can write about anything. Do a brain dump. Get all of your thoughts out of your head. You can write about things you’re happy about. Or you could write about what you’re grateful for. Keep a gratitude journal and strive to write 5 -10 things you’re grateful for.
If possible, keep it positive. Then you can look back and read it again to see things you’ve accomplished, things you’re grateful for, and things that are going well for you. It can be very uplifting.
Final Thoughts
Hal’s idea is to do these six Life Savers in the morning before you start your day. I was not a believer until I read this book. After I read it, I felt so inspired to start. Now, I jump out of bed at 5:00 in the morning and I’m loving it. And remember, I am the same person that for years, struggled to get out of bed before 7:00 AM. If I can do it, you can too.
Changing your life isn’t easy or we’d all be doing it. But you can change it slowly with these six Life Savers. Do yourself a favor and read this book. Your life will thank you for it. And you can’t help but feel inspired to try these six Life Savers once you’ve read this book.
Don’t you want to see where your life could go? Wouldn’t it be great to look back a year from now and see the progress you’ve made to improve your life! It’s worth it to see. Enjoy!
You can grab Hal’s book on Amazon or check out your local library for it.
